Apple is at it once again!
On the 28th of March, the company launched its first gadget for 2019 – the iPod Touch 7th Generation.
While it may look like the 6th Generation iPod Touch from the outside, the new gadget has significant internal upgrades that enable it to keep up with the latest software needs.

What to Expect From the iPod Touch 7th Generation?
The last time Apple upgraded the iPod line was in July 2015. At the time, it was the most powerful music player on the market given its A8 processors and the M8 motion coprocessor.
The new iPod Touch beefs ups its internal components, while keeping the same externals. To get a better picture of the new iPod, here are the main areas of comparison with its 6th Generation sibling:
Colors
Apple kept the same line of colors as the previous iPod generation. This includes Space Gray, Gold, Silver, Pink, Blue, and Red.
Storage Capacity
While the previous iPod started from 16GB and then capped off at 128GB, the Apple iPod Touch 2019 starts at 32GB with higher memory tiers of up to 256GB.
Size and Weight
The size and weight remained the same at 4.86 x 2.31 x 0.24 inches and 3.10 ounces (88 grams) respectively.
Display
Apple retained the 4-inch screen from the previous generation in the new 2019 iPod Touch. It has the same 1136 x 640-pixel resolution screen at 326 pixels per inch (PPI).
Chip
The chip was upgraded from the A8 to the A10 which Apple states has twice the speed of the previous generation iPod touch. The new processor and coprocessor enable the new Apple iPod touch to support resource-intense features such as Group FaceTime calls as well as ARKit games and apps.
The A8 processor in the 6th Generation iPod Touch doesn’t fully support iOS 13 and other iterations of the operating system. It also struggles to provide a smooth user experience.
Cameras
The cameras remained the same with the rear cam at 8MP and the front one at 1.2MP.
Buttons and Ports
The buttons also remain in the shape of the previous iPod with the home button (without Touch ID), the volume up/down buttons on the left, the sleep/wake button at the top right corner, and the 3.5 mm headphone jack at the bottom left corner. The lighting connector is retained as well.
Software
Just like the iPhone X, this iPod was released with the latest iteration of iOS (the iOS 12.3) and will support a lot more versions of this operating system.
Price
All colors of the iPod have similar prices with 32GB of storage going for around $199, 128GB at $299, and 256GB at $399.
