iPhone 11 Pro vs iphone 11 Pro Max - BlackBrook Case

iPhone 11 Pro vs iphone 11 Pro Max

With all three new iPhone models out in the wild, it's high time to decide which one to buy.

The good news: Apple made the decision easier by tweaking its naming convention. This year, the iPhone XR replacement is simply named iPhone 11. Meanwhile, the iPhone XS and XS Max give way to the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max.

This makes things simple. If you want the best specs, get one of the two Pro models. Here is all you need to know about how they work and what to expect.

What's the Same

Before we discuss the differences, let's recap what the two iPhone Pro models have in common.

For starters, both models come with a brand-new triple rear camera. Other than the wide and ultra-wide lenses, they feature a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. The Night Mode is another new feature that benefits from the wide camera.

Both Pro models launch on iOS 13 and run on the same processor (A13 Bionic). They also have the same storage capacities: 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB. Neither has the 3D Touch feature, opting to replace it with Haptic Touch.

Finally, both the iPhone Pro 11 and Pro Max come in four colors. The usual Silver and Space Gray options are back, with Gold and Midnight Green accompanying them. For more variety, consider getting a leather case of your liking.

What's Different

As you can see, the new iPhone Pro models are quite similar. That said, there are a few key differences between them.

Display

The two models are most easily distinguished from each other by their display. The iPhone 11 Pro comes with a 5.8-inch screen and a 2,436 x 1,125 resolution. The Pro Max version features a 6.5-inch screen with a 2,688 x 1,242 resolution.

Like their predecessors, both models have OLED displays and HDR support. Therefore, choosing between them will depend on your needs. The Pro version slips into your pocket more easily, while the Max is a bit more powerful.

Size and Weight

As with the display sizes, the models differ in their physical footprint. At 144 x 71 x 8.1 mm, the iPhone 11 Pro is the smaller of the two. The Pro Max is reminiscent of the XS Max model, with an area of 158 x 77.8 x 8.1 mm.

Naturally, the difference in size means that the Pro Max model is a bit heavier as well. It weighs 226 grams, whereas the Pro version is a compact 188 grams.

Battery Life

This category has seen big improvements across the board. According to Apple, all iPhone 11 models come with an extra 4-5 hours of battery life. The Pro version can last up to 18 hours, and the Max can make it to a full 20.

Price

As per usual, the pricing of the models depends on their storage capabilities. The iPhone 11 Pro versions come at $999, $1,149, and $1,349. The Pro Max models are a touch more expensive, at $1,099, $1,249, and $1,449.

Pro vs. Pro Max: Conclusion

Are you using your iPhone for games, movies, or as a professional camera? If so, the larger OLED display and the extra battery life on the Pro Max should come in handy. If you don't care about that, the iPhone 11 Pro is the better option.
